It is known that fire broke out in three election camp offices of Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara) Constituency independent candidate (scissor symbol) and current Member of Parliament Enamul Haque last night (December 25). The voter list, posters and handbills there were burnt to ashes.
Independent candidate Enamul Haque alleged that the workers of Awami League candidate Abul Kalam Azad had done this incident. However, Abul Kalam says that the supporters of Enamul Haque are trying to take advantage by setting themselves on fire.
Before this, some election camps were vandalized in Rajshahi-4 Constituency, supporters of rivals were attacked, camps were set on fire. After that, Election Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed called Awami League nominated candidate Abul Kalam Azad and independent candidate Enamul Haque to his office on Monday (December 25) afternoon. In front of Superintendent of Police Saifur Rahman in the Returning Officer’s office, the two candidates huddled and promised that they would not engage in any violence. But last night, Enamul Haque’s office was set on fire.
Independent candidate Enamul Haque alleged that I had promised to conduct peaceful elections, but Kalam, a candidate for Boat, did not keep his word. People of his party set fire to my election office. In this way, there is no fair environment for elections.
Denying the allegations, Abul Kalam said that none of his supporters were involved in this incident.
Meanwhile, based on the complaint of the supporters of independent candidate Enamul Haque, an Additional Superintendent of Police and Bagmara Thana police visited the spot on Tuesday morning (December 26).
