Police said the incident of killing two brothers by slitting their throats in Panighata village of Mohammadpur in Magura was premeditated. One of the people involved in the incident has been arrested. During the initial interrogation, the police came to know that Sabuj Molla (30) and his brother Hriday Molla (17) were called and killed for talking about consuming dab.
This information was given in a press conference at Magura Police Superintendent’s office on Monday afternoon. The two deceased are the sons of Manjur Molla of Panighata village in the upazila. On Sunday morning, the dead bodies of his two sons were found a few hundred yards away from the man’s house. Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Kalimullah said that Ashiqur Rahman (17), son of Farooq Shikdar of Panighata village, was arrested from an area of Magura city on Sunday night on charges related to this incident. According to the police, Sabuj and his brother called Hridoy and took him to Dhokchand field in Panighata Madhyapara last Saturday around 9:30 pm. There some people killed the two brothers by slitting their throats.
However, the Additional Superintendent of Police did not clarify what exactly the dispute was about. He said that during the initial interrogation, Ashiku has admitted his involvement in the incident. Police believe that some people took part in the murder. Among those killed, Sabuj Mullah was a farmer. And his younger brother Hridoy was a class 10 student in a local school. Their bodies were found in the field of Panighata village, a few hundred yards away from their house.
