Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has indicated not to make the government smaller during the election period. In response to a question in this regard, he said, “We will do the government routine work as the government during the election.”

The Prime Minister came to a press conference at Ganabhaban on Tuesday afternoon to share his experience of participating in the ‘Global Gateway Forum’ conference in Brussels. He said this in a question and answer session.

In response to the question of when the government will be formed during the election and what its shape will be, the Prime Minister said, “The shape (of the government) will be seen then.” About that… if you zoom in, it can be seen that many ministries do not work. Works get interrupted.

The Prime Minister also said, ‘That is the effort so that the trend of development continues. That’s why I said, the way we are. Because no one can obstruct the development works. So as it is, it will continue. The routine will work. The candidate will not get any government opportunity.

The last two elections (in 2014 and 2018) were held under the ruling Awami League government after the caretaker government was abolished. During the 2014 elections, the Prime Minister reduced the cabinet. New faces were also seen.

At the press conference, a journalist asked, ‘People are a little scared of the current political program. How do you reassure the people and crack down on the political parties who are doing such violence?

In response, the Prime Minister said, “The hand that burns a car should be burnt.” Only then will they get an education.” Or suffer the consequences. I will not let go like this.

Commenting that they will not be able to stop the election, Sheikh Hasina said, “The election will be held on time.” The people are with us. Not with them. Politics is not done by making people suffer.

Another journalist asked, “a judicial process should be done to stop the arson incident.” Are there any plans for a special tribunal? The situation that exists now, is it in your favor or against?

In response, the Prime Minister said that those who are setting the fire should be punished quickly. Call on those who are doing this to surrender. He also said, ‘It is not a matter of profit and loss. Killed people, people will decide. BNP should be asked. They are doing hooliganism, terrorism, how much benefit they are getting. The problem of the party (BNP) is that they have no leadership. There is some mic buzz. That too has gone underground again.
