Gold prices hit record highs again in the new year. From today Thursday, the price of hallmarked 22 carat gold will increase by Tk 1 lakh 12 thousand 441. Yesterday, Wednesday, Bangladesh Jewelers Association or Bajus announced to increase the price of gold. In that, the price per load has increased by 1 thousand 400 taka and is rising to a record high.
In the last part of 2023, the price of gold in the country’s market started to increase gradually. As a result, the price of good quality gold bullion exceeds lakhs of rupees. The upward trend in gold prices of the latter part of last year has continued into the new year. As a part of that, Bajus announced to increase the price again yesterday. The new price will be effective in the market from today.
Bangladesh Jewelers Association said in a notification after yesterday evening that the price of pure gold has increased in the local market. That is why the price of gold has been adjusted again.
According to Bajus data, the last gold price was increased by Tk 1,749 last December 24. The price of one load of good quality gold increased by 1 lakh 11 thousand 41 taka, which was the highest in the history of the country. In less than a month, gold prices hit another record. According to the new rate, the price of 22 carat gold will be Rs 1 lakh 12 thousand 441, which is the highest price of gold in the history of the country so far.
According to the Jewelers Association, the price of hallmarked 21 carat gold will increase by Tk 1,283 from today to Tk 1 lakh 7,309. The price of 18 carat quality gold is increasing by 1 thousand 166 taka. The new price of gold of this quality will increase to 92 thousand 29 taka. And the traditional gold price will increase by 933 taka to 76 thousand 632 taka per load.
Before the price hike, gold ornaments of 22 carats were sold at Tk 1 lakh 11 thousand 41 till yesterday in the country’s market. And per load 21 carat gold was sold at 1 lakh 6 thousand 26 taka, 18 carat 90 thousand 863 taka and traditional method gold was sold at 75 thousand 699 taka.
Data analysis by Jewelers Association shows that gold prices have been adjusted 29 times in 2023. Among them, the price was reduced 11 times, increased 18 times. At the beginning of last year (January), the price of a 22-carat hallmarked gold bar was Tk 88,413. On July 21, after several rounds of price increases, the price of gold per bar exceeded 1 lakh rupees for the first time in the country’s market. Later, this price increased several times and now it has increased to 1 lakh 12 thousand 441 taka.
