United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres congratulated Sheikh Hasina for being elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh again. At the same time, the UN Secretary General said in his congratulatory message that he wants to work with Sheikh Hasina’s government for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh.
Antonio Guterres sent this congratulatory message to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday. Addressing the Prime Minister, the UN Secretary General wrote, ‘I congratulate you for being re-elected as the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The United Nations is committed to working with your government through the United Nations Country Team (UN staff stationed in Bangladesh) in the interests of the people of Bangladesh.
Antonio Guterres also said that the United Nations attaches great importance to the partnership with Bangladesh, including major contributions to UN peacekeeping operations, generosity to Rohingya refugees and efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The UN Secretary General told the Prime Minister, ‘I appreciate your participation in the Global Crisis Response Group. I am confident that we will have your continued support as before in the ambitious goals we have set ourselves, such as the fight against climate change and the need to urgently reform the international financial framework.
