The condition did not improve even after being shown by a doctor in England. Shakib Al Hasan is going to Singapore for eye treatment. If everything goes well, this all-rounder of Rangpur Riders in BPL will catch a flight to Singapore at one o’clock tomorrow. Rangpur Riders Chief Executive Officer Ishtiaq Sadek confirmed Shakib’s move to Singapore.
Shakib has been suffering from an eye problem since the India World Cup, which the all-rounder said affected his batting in the World Cup as well. Just before the BPL, he went to see an eye doctor in London.
Shakib played a match against Fortune Barisal in Mirpur after returning from London a day before BPL. Although he scored only 2 runs with the bat, he took 2 wickets for 16 runs with the ball. However, Rangpur lost the match by 5 wickets.
After the match, Rangpur captain Nurul Hasan said that Shakib is still suffering from eye problems. After that, the news of his going to Singapore the next day came to light. However, when he will return from Singapore, his franchise in the BPL is not sure.
Rangpur Riders Chief Executive Officer Ishtiaq Sadek told this reporter over the phone, “Tomorrow (Sunday) at one o’clock, Shakib is going to Singapore.” He still has eye problems. Will go to Singapore for a special treatment, which is only available there. We hear that this treatment will improve Shakib’s eye condition.
Asked when Shakib can return from Singapore, he said, “It is uncertain.” But we assume we won’t get Shakib for at least the next three matches. It has to be accepted, because no risk can be taken with an important player like Shakib.
The problem in Shakib’s eyes first appeared in the World Cup. It was known that there was a problem in the retina of the eye due to nerve pressure. That was affecting Shakib’s batting as well. He also showed doctors twice in India. After that, two ophthalmologists showed it in Dhaka as well.
Despite playing BPL for Rangpur, BCB is sending Shakib to Singapore. But before that, Rangpur Riders arranged to send him to England for treatment.
