Jubo League’s rally in Natore with Ramada in public

Leaders and workers of Jubo League and Sramik League openly marched with Ramda in Singra of Natore. Singra Municipal Jubo League President Labu Hasan led this protest march at Singra bus stand area on Friday afternoon.

They protested against extortion from transport at Singra bus stand. A video of the procession went viral on social media. In the viral video, most of the people are seen holding different types of weapons. Some of them had ramadas, some had iron rods. Some have special weapons made of iron rods and bicycle chain sprockets.

Some eyewitnesses said that around 12 noon today, some young people led by Municipal Jubo League president Labu Hasan started a procession with slogans against extortion in Singra bus stand area. Most of the participants in the procession marched along the Natore-Bogra highway with sharp hansuas and ramdas raised. Moments after the incident, the protesters left when law enforcement officials reached the spot.

Jubo League leader Labu Hasan told Prothom Alo that by forming CNG owner association at Singra bus stand, they are unfairly collecting 70 taka from cars every day. But the administration does not take action against them. So they marched in protest. However, he denied the presence of weapons in the procession. Drawing attention to the viral video, he said, “Some may have it.” He did not notice the busyness of the procession.

Singra police officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Kalam acknowledged the procession. However, he said that he did not know about the display of weapons. He told Prothom Alo that the police are investigating the incident.
