Chief sponsor of Jatiya Party (Japa) Roshan Ershad will hold an exchange meeting with the party’s Trinamool leaders and workers on Sunday. The meeting was organized at the residence of Roshan Ershad in Gulshan of the capital. Japa’s top leaders are also expected to participate in it.

This information was informed in a circular sent to the media by leaders known as pro-Roshan in the Jatiya Party on Saturday afternoon. It is said in the circular that the chief sponsor of the party, Roshan Ershad, has responded to the call of Japa Trinamool leaders and workers who have become helpless due to incompetent leadership and wrong decisions in the 12th National Assembly elections. He will hold a meeting with the candidates of the party contesting the election and the Trinamool leaders.

It is said in the notification that he (Roshan) did not participate in the election by abandoning his own interests as the nomination of qualified and dedicated leaders was not confirmed in the parliamentary elections. Through this, it has been proved that he is the worthy guardian of the Jatiya Party.

Meanwhile, 668 Japa leaders resigned last Friday. As the reason, the leaders accused party chairman GM Quader and general secretary Mujibul Haque of arbitrariness in the party. On that day, the resigned leaders also announced the formation of a new party, excluding the current leadership of Japa.

In the January 7 election, the ruling party won 26 seats in seat-sharing with the Awami League. Apart from this, their party had candidates all over the country. JPA has fielded candidates for a total of 265 seats. But out of the compromise seats, JPA candidates won only 11 seats.

A section of the defeated candidates in Dhaka staged a protest at the JAPA office demanding the resignation of top leaders after the party’s drubbing in the polls. Later they held a meeting with the defeated candidates from all over the country and criticized the Japa leadership. Some leaders were also expelled from Japa for such activities.
