A US federal court has ordered former US President Donald Trump to pay $83.3 million in damages for rape and defamation. The victim, Elizabeth Jane Carroll, is to pay this amount of compensation.
The nine-member panel of the federal court in Manhattan, New York gave this order to Trump on Friday local time. Of the nine judges, seven are men and two are women.
The court said Trump must pay $65 million in punitive damages to the victim, Elizabeth Jane Carroll. And Carroll will receive $11 million in damages for defamation. Carroll must pay the remaining $7.3 million in emotional damages.
Elizabeth Jane Carroll is a former journalist-columnist. The age has reached 80 years. Carroll accused Trump of rape last year. Not satisfied with this serious accusation, Carroll filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court.
