The Islamic Resistance, an Iraqi-based armed group, has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a US military base in Jordan that killed 3 soldiers and wounded 34 others. The affected US base is known as Tower 22. It is located on the border between Iraq and Syria. US President Joe Biden blamed Iran-backed militants for the attack. However, Iran has denied involvement in the attack.

The Islamic Resistance said the attack was fueled by the Israel-Hamas war. In addition, their goal is to remove the US troops stationed in Iraq and Syria.

Iran-backed militias have little affinity with the Islamic Resistance. The armed group has been protesting US support for Israel’s attack on Gaza. The US Washington Institute for Near East Policy said the evidence points to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps playing a coordinating role here.

After the attack on the US military base in Jordan on Sunday, the Islamic Resistance said that drone strikes were carried out targeting US troops in three places in Syria. Among them, two US bases near the borders of Iraq, Syria and Jordan were attacked by drones. However, the group did not say anything clear about whether three US soldiers were killed in their attack or not.
