Since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Amar Ekushey Book Fair at three o’clock today on Thursday, the crowd towards the fair will continue for the entire month.
For the first time, book lovers will get the benefit of metro rail for traveling to this year’s book fair. The Dhaka University Station of the Metrorail is right next to the Suhrawardy Udyan-part of the Book Fair. When arriving, get off the rail at the fair gate; And on the way back from the fair, the stairs to the metro station. As a result, passengers from all areas from Uttara to Motijheel can now travel to the fair easily (a total of eight entry and exit routes have been made from Doyal Chattar to TSC and in front of the Engineers Institution at the eastern end). This will increase the attendance of book lovers in the fair. Publishers hope that sales will be good at the fair.

For that reason, not only buying books, but also a deeper emotion-affection is attached to Amar Ekush Book Fair in the public mind. People of all ages, from children to old people, look forward to going to the book fair.
As informed earlier by Bangla Academy, this time also various government and private research institutes in Bangla Academy premises and Suhrawardy Udyan along with pavilions and stalls of big institutions like UPL, Prathma, Gami, Samam, Ananya, Adorn, Sesir, Mawla Brothers, Hedrit, Anupam and Seva Prakashani. Various commercial publishing houses will have stalls-pavilions. A total of 635 institutions have been allotted 937 unit stalls in both the sections. There will be 37 pavilions. The fair will be open daily from 3 am to 9 pm and on holidays from 11 am to 9 pm.
On Wednesday afternoon, it was found that the gates of the academy have been closed. SSF and security experts searched the academy premises in the morning. Since then, entry to the general public is prohibited without a special permit. In the morning, member secretary of the fair committee KM Mujahidul Islam told Prothom Alo that the stage preparation for the opening ceremony at the academy premises has been completed. Construction of various stalls and pavilions is also progressing rapidly. They hope that the infrastructure work will be completed before the inauguration ceremony.
