The US has approved plans to launch a series of attacks on Iran’s facilities in Syria and Iraq. This information was given to CBS by several US officials on Thursday.

However, the US officials did not make it clear when the attack would be launched. They said that the attack will be carried out for several days. The timing of the attack will depend on weather conditions.

Last Sunday, three soldiers were killed in a drone attack on a US military base near the Syrian border in Jordan. Washington blamed an Iran-backed armed group for the attack. It was after the incident on Sunday that the decision was made to attack Iran’s facilities.

A group called the Islamic Resistance of Iraq has claimed responsibility for the attack on the US base in Jordan. This group consists of several armed groups. They are said to be funded and trained by the Revolutionary Guards, the armed forces of Iran. However, Tehran has denied any involvement in the recent attack.

41 US soldiers were injured in Sunday’s attack. US officials then vowed to retaliate. However, some other officials of the country, including US President Joe Biden, commented that they do not want to engage in a large-scale war with Iran.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel began in Gaza, Palestine, from last October 7. Since then, various pro-Iranian armed groups have been attacking various installations and ships belonging to the United States and Israel. For example, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have attacked various cargo ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. In response to that attack, the United States and the country’s allies are attacking various Houthi targets in Yemen.
