Housing and Public Works Minister Ram Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury said that the government has decided that gas will not be supplied through pipelines to homes. Whatever gas is found will be used in industrialization, fertilizer factories and power generation.

The minister claimed that no country in the world has so many gas connections like Bangladesh. Ubaidul Moktadir said, ‘No country in the world has gas-connection like this. I challenge that many of your relatives and friends live abroad. Gas is available in Saudi Arabia, but there is no gas connection, all cylinders have to be used.
