Candidates supported by Imran Khan won a few more seats in Pakistan’s general elections. Independent candidates backed by Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won the most seats in the preliminary results of 245 seats announced by the Election Commission. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s party is second in number of seats. Then there is Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s party.
According to the latest data of the Election Commission of Pakistan, the results of 245 out of 265 constituencies have been declared. Out of this, independent candidates have won the most 99 seats. Most of them are independent candidates supported by PTI. After that, three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s party won 69 seats. Third position is Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s party PPP. His party got 52 seats. Apart from this, MQM won 15 seats and other parties won 10 seats.
Polling for 265 seats (one suspended) in Pakistan’s National Assembly was held on Thursday. A party will need 134 seats to form a government. The total number of seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan is 336. Out of this, 266 constituencies are directly polled. And 60 seats are reserved for women and 10 reserved for minorities.
