Awami League President Sheikh Hasina told the leaders and workers the reason for keeping the 12th National Assembly elections open for boat and party independent candidates. He said, there were many conspiracies to thwart the election. Sheikh Hasina mentioned that if the candidature was not open, besides questioning the election, the democracy of Bangladesh would have been taken away.

Sheikh Hasina said these things in the special extended meeting of Awami League held at Ganobhaban today. In addition to the members of the central executive committee of Awami League, leaders of advisory councils, national councils, metropolitan, district, upazila and municipalities, party and independent members of parliament, city and municipal mayors, chairmen of district and upazila councils as well as presidents and general secretaries of associate and fraternal organizations were present. . The Awami League president referred to the special extended meeting as a get-together after the national elections. At the same time, Sheikh Hasina gave directions regarding the national and international conspiracies surrounding the 12th National Assembly elections, upcoming upazila elections, and reduction of commodity prices.
Pointing out that the 12th National Assembly elections were free, fair and impartial, Sheikh Hasina said, “Those who want to question the election must clearly state what they are saying that the election was not free and fair.” They have to say it. It doesn’t say that. But they are saying that the election was not free and neutral. He further said, “Such things are said from some domestic and international levels. Whichever country says, my question to them is how, where is the problem, they have to say.

The Prime Minister said that elections have been held in many developed countries of the world, but it has not yet been accepted by their opponents. Even the post-election violence has resulted in murders. But the election in Bangladesh was very fair. Public administration, armed forces, law and order forces, and all those involved in the election performed their duties impartially.

Sheikh Hasina mentioned that there was a conspiracy regarding the 12th National Parliament election. He said, ‘There was an effort to prevent voters from coming, to ensure that the election was not free, and that the election could not be held; So that after the election can be questioned about the election that this election was not free and fair. So give ban, give that. When they told us to ban, I also said, if necessary, we will also ban, we can. I said because I know the rules of prohibition.

Sheikh Hasina also said, ‘We have opened this election keeping in mind that our country should not be questioned amid so many words. Because, whether there is an opponent, whether there is competition in the elections, the voters will come, they will vote according to their choice, they will vote for whoever they want, the people will get that right. Today, the election cannot be questioned because it was elected that way. Many say, but are unable to actually question. Our leaders and workers should keep this in mind and remember.

The Awami League president said regarding the distance created between the Trinamool leaders and workers due to boats and independent candidates, “many people have been conflicted in doing this election independently and party-wise. What is done is done; Now forget it. Everyone must work together. Work should be done with trust and faith in the people. If any problem arises somewhere, then we are there to solve it, the central committee will do it. But let there be no suicidal conflict among themselves; Everyone should be alert in that regard. There is no point in blaming.’

At that time, Sheikh Hasina said, if this election was not open, then not only the election would be questioned, but the democracy of Bangladesh would have been hijacked. Bangladesh’s status as a developing country would have been destroyed.

Sheikh Hasina said that BNP wanted to thwart the election knowing that Awami League would win the people’s vote. He said, along with that they provided some lords. BNP movement as per their instructions. Some are still jumping around, can do; But Bangladesh Awami League is the people’s organization of this country, they have to remember this. It did not emerge nor did this organization come out of the pocket of the General who illegally seized power. This organization has grown from the soil-man. People are the biggest strength of this organization.

Upazila elections are also open.
Regarding keeping the upazila elections open, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘How much work has been done for the common people since 15 years in power, and who could not, will also be scrutinized. I will see who is accepted by the people.’ He further said, ‘I don’t want any kind of conflict. Action will be taken against whoever is involved in this.

Sheikh Hasina advised everyone to take initiative to reduce the price of goods and said, “Extortion and illegal hoarding should be stopped especially in the field of transportation or in the wholesale market. You are here the representatives of different areas, you have to pay attention here.

Calling for cost-effective use of electricity, the Prime Minister said, we must remember that we are giving electricity at half the price of the money we spend. So from now on, the more electricity you use, the more you will have to pay. We are taking action accordingly. And for those who absolutely cannot, there is a discount. But those who consume extra electricity will have to pay extra.

“Let the cases proceed properly”
Criticizing the opposition party, Sheikh Hasina said, “Earlier, BNP secretly set fire to cars, trains – everywhere. This time they made it public and took pictures again. Their Guru has said from London that the picture must be sent. As a result, the pictures and evidence of the fire they are setting are available. In the area where these incidents took place, they ensure that these cases are properly prosecuted and punished. It was their leader who ordered their punishment. Who will blame? Photographed and sent to please the leader. Now in digital system it is not difficult to send, collect anyway. That’s how the evidence came.’

Pointing out that BNP’s torture cases still remain after the 2001 elections, the Prime Minister said, “Therefore, the cases should be properly investigated, witnesses should be present and these perpetrators should be punished appropriately.” In the future, we have to do that system so that they don’t have the courage to set fire and destroy state resources.

Calling on everyone to stand against militancy and corruption, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘The money of corruption does no good; Rather, their children will be in danger. Attention should be paid to prevent this bad name from happening. Remember one thing, participated in the election. Some won, some didn’t. But he got some votes. Keeping that in mind, people’s trust and faith should not be lost, you have to prove it in your actions. I want you to act like that.
