In the first 9 days of this February, expatriates have sent remittances of 63.18 million US dollars in legal channels. This information was found in the updated report published by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday. Expatriate income in the country last January was 2100 million US dollars.

In the first 9 days of February, 69.1 million dollars came through state-owned banks. 2 crore 96 lakh dollars came through a specialized bank. 531.6 million dollars comes through private banks. Apart from this, 13 lakh 90 thousand dollars came through foreign banks.

January, the first month of the new year, saw a slight jump in expatriate income. After six months in January, expatriate income exceeded $2 billion. Although there is a positive trend in expatriate income in the new year, people related to the banking sector believe that this trend should be increased.

In the year 2023, the total expatriate income in the country was 2 thousand 190 million dollars, which was 2 thousand 130 million dollars in the previous year in 2022. That is, in 2023, the expatriate income has increased by about 3 percent. Before this, expatriate income of 2 thousand 207 crores in 2021, 2 thousand 173 crores in 2020 and 1 thousand 833 crores in 2019 came.

As such, the second highest expatriate income has come in 2023 in the last five years. Despite this, analysts feel that the growth in expatriate income is not meeting expectations. Because, every year the rate at which the manpower is exported from the country, the growth in expatriate income is not seen.
