How Khalek fell into the trap
According to the case documents and talking to the victim Khalek, Abdul Khalek Khan of Pabna was in Saudi Arabia for 25 years. Returning home in 2004, he started living in Kafrul area of Dhaka. He took a job in a private company. He was well with his wife, two sons and a daughter. Later Khalek’s wife and one of his sons fell ill. His wife and son were treated in different hospitals. But his wife’s kidney problem worsened. Khalek at one stage mentioned the illness of his wife and child to an acquaintance. Later he was introduced to Tariqul Islam through Khokon. Tariqul then tells Khalek that Jinn comes to him. He will heal his wife and son.

In the statement of the case, Khalek claimed that Tariqul gave medicine to his wife and son. Both of them feel healthy after consuming that medicine. Later he started trusting Tariqul.

Khalek Khan said in the case, “When my wife and children are somewhat healthy, I continue to see the various miracles of Tariqul, the King of Jinn.” At one stage, the King of Jinn said, “When you bring me, you will not have any more suffering.”

Khalek also said in the case, “The king of Jin said, tell me, how much money do you need?” I then asked, how to pay? Then the king of Jin said, “Give me a bucket of water.” After giving a bucket of water, Tariqul left some papers and a 1000 taka note in the bucket. Then many 1000 rupee notes were made.

Khalek told Prothom Alo, ‘Tarikul always said that Jinn comes to him. If the teeth were tapped, the genes would come out. After that, Tarikul performed various miracles. He also gave me money several times. I request you to make more money at one stage. Then Tarikul said, I will make more money. But one thing must be done. As many mosques as there are in the world, the Holy Quran Sharif must be bought there. I ask how much money is required. Then Tariqul said, the King of Jinn will come and tell. Later, Tarikul asks to pick up the paper kept in a container. It was written there, 1 crore 66 lakh rupees are required to buy 56 thousand Quran Sharif. I agree to pay the money.

Khalek said, then Tariqul ordered him to bring six packets. Through these, Tariqul will make him several crores of rupees. Besides, he kept giving money to Tariqul to buy Quran Sharif. He said that he threw seven lakh taka in the river as per Tarikul’s words.

Khalek also said that Tariqul at one stage gave him a packet to make money. However, Koran Sharif forbids opening the packet until the full purchase price is paid. According to Tariqul’s instructions, he gave him Tk 1 crore 64 lakh from December 17, 2020 to March 7, 2021. Tariqul forbade them to open the box filled with money until the remaining money was paid. Then Tariqul and his associate Abdullah went to Jessore. Quran Sharif asks to pay the rest of the purchase price.

Khalek claimed in the case, “I and Khokon opened the box given by Tariqul and found only paper in the box. There is no money.’

CID Inspector Jahidul Islam, the investigating officer of the case, told Prothom Alo that Tariqul and his accomplice Khalek stole more than crores of taka by pretending to be Jin king. And Khalek’s previous acquaintance Khokon told Prothom Alo, “Tarikul also cheated me by pretending to be the King of Jinn.” I also fell into the trap and gave him several lakhs.
